The Peterborough Petes are pleased to announce the selection of Slater Koekkoek from the Notre Dame Hounds with their first selection on the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.  Koekkoek, the native of Mountain Ontario in the Ottawa Valley was the MVP and Top Defenseman at the 2010 Telus Cup Major Midget Championship last week in Levi, Quebec.

"I am very excited to become a member of the Peterborough Petes.  I grew up watching the OHL and the Petes as I have an uncle who lives in Peterborough.  It is a very good fit for my family and I and I look forward to helping the team next season."

"Slater is a strong skating puck moving defenseman who excelled at the Major Midget level playing against players one and two years older than him" states Petes Manager of Player Personnel Mike Oke.  "The Petes are very proud to add a player of Slater's calibre to our team."
